A rival to the OMRLP?

BCPThere is now a sixth candidate contesting Southend West on May 7th. This leaflet was in my post bag this week.

It looks like Tom Darwood has tried a few times in his attempts to enter Parliament.

• He came 22nd with 25 votes (0.1% vote share) in the 2008 Haltemprice and Howden by-election.
• He stood in Barking in the 2010 General Election, securing ninth spot with 77 votes (0.2%).
• In 2013 he stood in the South Shields by-election, again achieving a ninth place with 57 votes (0.2%).

I have now spoken to Mr Darwood three times and he seems nice enough if somewhat naive. He is organising a hustings, odd insofar that these are usually organised by politically neutral organisations.

Frankly, I find the ideas espoused by Mr Darwood and his new party rather strange. See here – www.tbcp.uk/political.html – which seems to suggest that state spending be handled in four areas equating to the four countries that make up the United Kingdom.

His storyboard is probably the oddest thing I have come across, politics wise. A read through this and I amazed he attracted as many as 25 votes in 2008, never mind the 77 in 2010.

File this under ‘avoid’.

🙂 I have known Tom for nigh 20 years and he is one of the most genuine fellows I know. Serious contender – almost certainly no but if you can trawl through the maze he has something worth saying!
