A curious decline: Southend’s electorate

I have had sight of some curious stats, the electorate totals for the Essex local authorities in 2010 and 2011.

The numbers for each ward in Southend-on-Sea

There may be a perfectly obvious reason for the drop in Southend’s electorate – it’s just that I cannot think of it.

  1. Never mind Southend, what about Castle Point! Down by over 3000 ?! !

  2. If you recall 2001 there was a big fuss in Southend over the census and how it was claimed that the under-recording cost the local authority millions in Government funding. Are we about to witness something similar?

  3. Could well be.

Do you have a link to these figures?

  4. I was sent a spreadsheet. You could always link to this post.

  5. Oh, I will be doing that πŸ™‚
