Congratulations to Sir David Amess

I offer my sincere congratulations to the Conservative Member of Parliament who represents me, and who I hope to replace in the General Election.
Despite our political differences I acknowledge his industry and longevity as a politician, and I hope he enjoys the accolade.
Oh, so noble! I guess as his prospective opponent it would be churlish for you not to offer congratulations.
But
How many professions are there where you get a knighthood merely for “industry and longevity”?
It’s not as if it’s not a well paid and comfortable job. What is so special about “political service” that you get knighthoods awarded? 20 Years as a lollipop lady and you get a BEM.
Anyone done an analysis of which professions stand the greatest chance of being honoured and at what level?
