The sun (very nearly) shines on Jane’s campaign

Another morning spent at the western end of the Borough of Southend-on-Sea, supporting Jane Norman’s campaign in the West Leigh by-election. Again we enjoyed remarkably balmy weather considering the time of year.

One cannot be a serious political activist without taking a close interest in the weather. Aside from the fact that most campaigning is done outdoors, election turnout is affected. The current forecast for this Thursday (polling door) is 6°C, cloudy and dry. Whilst far from being as warm or encouraging as May’s weather when our elections are usually contested these days, it is pretty decent for the cold and dark winter months. I am hopeful we get a decent turnout, as well as a decent result for Jane.
