Double yellow lines

One of my aspirations that is bound to founder is my wish to solve all the parking problems in Milton ward. I am determined to at least have made some small improvements though, and my ongoing campaign to chip away at the amount of yellow lines in the ward is a part of this. The removal of even quite modest lengths of double yellow lines will create extra kerbside parking for residents and visitors, and a space or two create here and there will alleviate some of the stress that generates more conversation time than any other issue in the ward.
I have already had some success in this endeavour, and I am grateful to residents who have helped me identify areas that can be looked at.
Ultimately I think we have to improve public transport in Southend-on-Sea, and I hope to influence the council in supporting extra bus services – the more people we can encourage onto buses (and the more buses we have to entice them) gives us two wins: it will relieve some of the stress on our busy roads and help increase footfall in the shopping areas.
