Is it a good thing to have the same people represent you at the different levels of democracy? Ray Howard thinks so – the greedy chappie represents Canvey Island West at all three tiers of local government.
Over half of Canvey Island’s Town councillors are also present at borough level. It rather makes you wonder why the town council exists – if the same people are going to be on Castle Point Borough Council then you may as well rid yourself of this layer of bureaucracy. Contrast this with Leigh-on-Sea Town Council, none of whose councillors also have a place on Southend-on-Sea Borough Council.
As a unitary authority, and without Milton having a town council (to my knowledge) don’t you perform all three functions Julian?
I do, all at once.
Milton is not covered by a town or parish council.
