The above table shows the population density across the Borough of Southend-on-Sea. The average number of people per hectare across the whole borough is 41.58.
When new dwellings are proposed I do hope that the above table is borne in mind. The ward I represent, Milton, is already 62% above the average density for the borough, hence my desire for serious scrutiny of any new application.
Those that represent Westborough, Kursaal and Victoria will doubtless feel similarly put upon.
Thank you Julian for this added dimension. I think it does demonstrate that Westborough lacks any genuine green space, after all would you regard the two Saints to be any less populated in certain parts, Laurence and Lukes, but because of the Airport and the disappearing green belt north of Eastern Avenue the figures have them down in the bottom third of less densely populated wards. Westborough’s advantages are that it is next door to Chalkwell Park, within sight of Priory Park, only under a mile to the Seafront and being close to the Town Centre.
I think we will agree that the next tranche of data regarding ‘wealth’ and ‘health’ of residents by Ward will be of most interest to us.
